Dan was born in Sussex, UK. At the age of 10 he immigrated to Malta, a small island in the Mediterranean Sea with his parents. At 16 he started working with local stone masons building houses and renovating old farmhouses. Most of the buildings in Malta are built with soft local limestone and the islands are rich in architectural history.
Returning to the UK, Dan furthered his studies in banker masonry in the historic city of York. The course was designed for masons who wanted to enter the restoration trade and covered traditional masonry techniques without the use of power tools.
Dan worked in the UK as a self-employed mason and builder for 10 years. He moved to Seattle in 2010 where he now lives with his wife and son working part time and looking after an energetic four year old.
